Winchester town manager: There s hope for change after Chauvin verdict

Wicked Local After more than 10 hours of deliberation, jurors found former police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter of George Floyd on Tuesday afternoon. Chauvin was remanded into the custody of the Hennepin County Sheriff after the verdict was announced and will be sentenced at a later date. Floyd, 46, was killed on May 25 after he was arrested on suspicion of using a counterfeit $20 bill. During the arrest, Chauvin pushed his knee into Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes. In video footage shot by a teenager, Floyd can be heard repeatedly saying, “I cannot breathe.”
