Spring Town Meeting in Winchester will take place remotely due to the pandemic on Monday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. It will be continued on April 29 and May 3, if needed.

Town Meeting members will attend and vote by logging into the Zoom videoconferencing platform, and the online Voter module provided by Option Technologies. Options Technologies also assist the town in conducting the meeting.

After more than 10 hours of deliberation, jurors found former police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter of George Floyd on Tuesday afternoon.
Chauvin was remanded into the custody of the Hennepin County Sheriff after the verdict was announced and will be sentenced at a later date.
Floyd, 46, was killed on May 25 after he was arrested on suspicion of using a counterfeit $20 bill. During the arrest, Chauvin pushed his knee into Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes. In video footage shot by a teenager, Floyd can be heard repeatedly saying, “I cannot breathe.”
