Police received 2,910 calls in November 2020 compared to 2,339 in November 2019. That’s an increase of 24 per cent.
“That’s relatively significant to have that much of an increase in one month from year-to-year in calls for service,” said Chief Hugh Stevenson during a Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Board meeting last Thursday.
Break-ins climbed from 72 in November 2019 to 98 in November 2020. Most of those burglaries, 70, happened to residences. Business break-ins barely budged from 18 to 19.
