Desert Sun Editorial Board Does last week’s decision to cancel Palm Springs’ July 4 fireworks mean no pyrotechnics ever again? After all, the issues raised by those who supported cancelling including the effect the noise has on pets and some people, including those with PTSD aren’t unique to 2021 or to the holiday. So it seems logical to conclude the show is over for good. Unfortunately, we can’t say for sure, because the City Council vote to end a 50-year tradition came out of nowhere. Even though it happened during a public meeting and after an alleged debate, it was a textbook example of how not to conduct the people’s business.
