Safe travel during COVID: Should you travel before getting vaccinated?

Travelers like Stephanie Wolkin are looking for a safe bet for their upcoming trips. But how do you define safe at a time like this? Safe for Wolkin means she can see her 97-year-old mother in New Jersey without infecting her with the deadly COVID-19 virus. Safe means she can find a way to make her annual trip to France this year, to make up for the one canceled last summer. I don t think I will be comfortable traveling until the vaccines are more widely available and there is some way to verify that those boarding a plane have been vaccinated, says Wolkin, a retired educational worker from White Bear Lake, Minnesota. I also would want the obligatory wearing of masks by all passengers to be strictly enforced.

Safe travel during COVID: There s no such thing as a sure bet

Pine River-Backus and Eagle View Elementary school students learn to snowshoe

Students at Eagle View snowshoed for several days and received the activity well. Snowshoeing can be hard work, especially walking up hills and through deeper snow, Martini said. It was a great workout. Taking the students outside had many obvious benefits. A benefit to using the snowshoes and getting outside is definitely allowing the kids to have a mask break during COVID and breathing in the fresh air, Martini said. Also, snowshoeing is a lifelong activity that people of all ages can enjoy, especially in this area where there are many opportunities to snowshoe on trails. Pine River-Backus School has had snowshoes for four years, available through PR-B Community Education. Community ed purchased them to make them available not only to classrooms that want to take advantage of the snow and school forest, but also for rent through community ed to youths and parents alike.
