Potter Township teen finishes third in national music competition

POTTER TWP.  Jackson Hunt, a junior at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School, took home third-place honors last month in a national competition for young composers. This is the second year in a row the Potter Township teen finished third in the Music Teachers National Association Composition Competition. Hunt advanced to the finals after winning a statewide contest and one of seven divisional contests hosted by the NACC.  He received a monetary prize and recognition in national NACC publications for his original composition “Five Images opus 12, a collection of five pieces; ”Rain in the Forest,” “Sunset in the Desert,” “Fog on the River,”   Snow on the Mountaintop” and “Sunshine on the Beach.” 

Lincoln Park s Gabriella Salvucci signs record deal, releases song

MIDLAND  Just My Luck should bring good fortune to 16-year-old recording artist Gabriella Salvucci. Released today on major music platforms, Just My Luck is the lead track from the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School student s debut EP on Misra Records of Pittsburgh. The original, piano-pop song compares the heartbreak of a dishonest relationship to a bogus prize sweepstakes too good to be true. The Midland Women’s Civic Club, along with its fund-raising arm, the Greater Midland Scholarship Foundation, is holding its annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration and commemoration at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18.
