Marble Fire in Lincoln National Forest under control, officials say The 3.2 acre Marble Fire that was visible from Alamogordo is under control, according to the Lincoln National Forest. The Marble Fire began Saturday, May 22 and showed minimal fire activity Sunday morning, per the latest update from the National Forest Service.  The fire is 25% contained and was located north of Marble Canyon, near Hershberger Peak, Above West Side Road.  Thirty-five fire personnel got the fire under control including a hotshot crew and two fire engines, a Lincoln National Forest news release states. The fire was determined to be human-caused and was under investigation.
