Lincoln Red Imps crowned champions for 25th time

Lincoln Red Imps claimed their twenty-fifth league title on the final league match of the Gibraltar National League, although, having to find their way around what was a determined Lions defensive display ready to spoil their party again. Lincoln Red Imps now head into Wednesday’s Rock Cup final against Glacis United looking to add to their tally of league and cup doubles.
Lincoln Red Imps had missed their chance to claim the title earlier in the week after St Joseph’s forced a draw after a second half comeback. Entering the match two points behind Europa, Lincoln Red Imps required all three points to claim the league title. Anything else would have handed the title to their arch rivals Europa. After Europa’s defeat of Mons Calpe there would have been no difficult calculations required with Lincoln left with just the one option.
Europa entered their Saturday afternoon encounter against Mons Calpe knowing that nothing less than a victory would be enough to keep their hopes of a league title open.
The match was to be coincidentally kick off at the same time as the FA Cup

An extraordinary comeback by St Joseph spoilt the party for Lincoln Red Imps this Thursday as they send the league title to be decided on the final match of the season. Lincoln Red Imps will have to wait until their weekend or even possibly their encounter on Sunday against Lions Gibraltar to find out if.

An unconvincing win for Lincoln Red Imps keeps them at the top 6th May 2021
A more than an unconvincing performance, particularly in the final third of the field still provided Lincoln Red Imps with the three points that maintains them at the top of the National League table. The red and blacks will be counting their lucky stars, or bemoan their misfortune in front of goal during the better.
