With three vacancies, Lincoln County Communications found itself between a rock and hard a place in maintaining a fully staffed work schedule. To alleviate the staff shortage, Teamsters Local 340 and Lincoln County Communications Association reached an agreement with Lincoln County to temporarily modify their work schedules. The agreement calls for a modified schedule until July 2. According to the memorandum of understanding between the county and unions, communications officers will work three 12-hour shifts and one six-hour shift per week. Communications supervisors will work rotating 12-hour shifts of two days on, two days off and three days on.

A woods fire in a rocky, hilly area off Wiscasset’s Birch Point Road Sunday, May 2 spanned about three acres, Alna Volunteer Fire Department reported on its Facebook page.
The department had eight firefighters and multiple vehicles on scene and worked about two hours there, the post stated. Wiscasset, Edgecomb, Westport and Woolwich also responded, Lincoln County Communications confirmed.

Authorities Search for Missing Teen in Lincoln County

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies and county search teams are looking for a 13-year-old female who went missing overnight (April 27-28). The missing teen is Taylor Falls of Sorrells Baxter Road in Cherryville.
Ms. Falls was last seen at the residence around eleven o’clock last night (April 27). Family members discovered her missing when they woke up early this morning.
She is described as a white female, 5’5″ tall, weighing around 115 pounds. She has short brown curly hair. Ms. Falls is subject to epileptic seizures.

After 2.5 years in the job, Lincoln County Communications Director Tom Nelson is leaving his post. Nelson submitted his resignation to county commissioners March 2 during the bi-monthly meeting. Nelson told commissioners his decision was “difficult” and made due to personal issues. “For several reasons, I’ve made this decision which I prefer not to get into,” he said. “I’ve accepted a job with Maine Health which is more in line with my experience.”
Nelson’s final day is March 19. Nelson lauded his co-workers, county administration and municipal and county public safety employees for their dedicated service. “It was a hard decision and I’ve put my heart into this position,” he said. “I’m grateful to you (commissioners) and Carrie (County Administrator Kip
