5G is coming to Burlington, despite some citizens’ concerns.
The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to approve AT&T’s application to build 5G “small cell” wireless equipment at a special session on Wednesday, April 14.
AT&T plans to construct a mast at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center intersection on Burlington Mall Road that will boost the signal in the area. It will look like a lamp post, but it will not have lights attached to it.
During the session, the board spent over an hour choosing specific locations where AT&T will be able to place the installation to ensure that it will not block visibility or obstruct crosswalks.
Driver killed after his truck hits tree in Billerica

A 61-year-old man was killed Wednesday afternoon when the pickup truck he was driving struck a tree on Concord Road in Billerica, police said.
William Collins of North Billerica was pronounced dead at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, police said in a statement.
The crash occurred just after 3:30 p.m. at the corner of Concord Road and French Street. Police received multiple 911 calls reporting that a vehicle had gone over the curb and struck a tree, which fell down, according to the statement.

Despite the acts of two good samaritans, a local man died of injures incurred during a single motor-vehicle crash on Wednesday, April 14.
According to Billerica police, the victim of the crash was identified as William Collins, 61, of North Billerica. At this time the single-car collision does not appear to involve any foul play, Deputy Chief Roy Frost wrote on the department s website on Wednesday.
The specific cause of the collision is being investigated by Billerica police with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Middlesex DA Office, Frost added.
As of Thursday, April 15, Frost told the Billerica Minuteman there were no new developments to the case.
