L&T announces aid to support family of employees who die of Covid-19

Synopsis
Responding to the second wave of Covid that India is battling with, L&T has announced financial and insurance assistance measures for employees and their families. The company will also offer support towards training and education to help in rehabilitating the spouse of a deceased employee, and announced other financial assistance to support these families.

Engineering major Larsen & Toubro has informed employees that it will give financial assistance to children of employees, who lost their lives due to Covid, in their education from pre-primary to senior college and professional course level.

NEW DELHI: Benchmark indices extended gains to a second straight day on Monday amid buying interest seen in financial and realty stocks, buoyed by improving Covid-19 conditions and strong global cues.
A steady decline in fresh Covid cases and hopes of the lockdown being lifted sooner boosted the sentiment on Dalal Street.
The 30-share pack Sensex added 111.42 points or 0.22 per cent to close at 50,651.90. The index traded in a range of 391.69 points during the day. Its broader peer NSE Nifty advanced 22.40 points or 0.15 per cent to settle at 15,197.70.

Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has intensified its efforts to retain its workforce post the outbreak of the second COVID-19 wave, a top company official has said. The company said it has been able to retain almost 70 per cent of its 2,45,000 contract labourers at its various project sites on account of medical care facilities and other support measures during the pandemic.
The company in a statement said that SMIMER Hospital and the New Civil hospital both received the first of the 22 oxygen generators capable of producing 700 litres/minute of oxygen.
