The Presidential Search Committee met April 21, per the schedule established in their April 10 meeting, and finalized the list of candidates that will be interviewed for the job of LSU s president.Â
Out of the 23 applicants presented to the committee, eight were chosen to move forward to the interview stage.Â
Following is the list of candidates who were up for consideration:
Laurence Alexander, J.D., Ph.D. Professor and Chancellor University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff
James Anderson, Ph.D. Former Deputy Under Secretary of Defense, Office of the Secretary of Defense U.S. Department of Defense
David Blackwell, Ph.D. Professor and Outgoing Provost, University of Kentucky
The Presidential Search Committee held a meeting at the Lod Cook conference Center on April 10 to discuss the final steps of the presidential search and to determine a schedule for moving forward.Â
Although it is subject to change based on Parker Executive Searchâs response, the committee unanimously agreed to the following schedule:Â
April 19:Â Interest period of the search will be concluded
April 21:Â Presidential Search Committee will meet to vet candidates and determine who they would like to considerÂ
April 26:Â Presidential Search Committee will conduct interviews with persons of interestÂ
April 30:Â Presidential Search Committee will decide which applicants they will submit to the Board of Supervisors as a final pool of candidatesÂ
As the search for the next LSU president continues, members of the LSU community are outlining what attributes they want their next leader to embody.
LSU hired Parker Executive Search Nov. 13 to handle the search. After developing a position description and creating a new website for the search, Parker Executive Search is now compiling a pool of candidates from a myriad of backgrounds. From this pool, the company will narrow down the list of candidates to seven or eight individuals that the LSU Presidential Search Committee will conduct further interviews with and ultimately choose the next president from.Â
