SCOE to honor top 2021-22 educators, school staff
The certificated educators nominated are:
Kelly Hughes, a fifth-grade teacher in the Benicia School District; Jenny Campbell, a response to intervention and English language development K-3 teacher at Dixon School District; Joseph Arbizu, a math, Algebra II, integrated math and geometry high school teacher in the Fairfield-Suisun School District; Ronald Major, a multiple-subjects (8-12), teacher for the Solano County Office of Education; Kylie Negin, an English and journalism high school teacher in the Travis School District; Laura Roberts, a U.S. history and ethnic studies (11-12) teacher at Vacaville School District; and Vivet Beckford-Nelson, a biology and engineering design and development high school teacher in the Vallejo City School District.

LEEDS At a regular meeting on Monday, April 19, the Leeds City Council considered revoking the licenses of two businesses in Leeds.
The meeting turned out to be lengthy, running nearly an hour and a half as most of the focus was on considering revoking the business licenses of Greenwave Collision, an autobody repair shop, and Hayes Construction.
A public hearing was held for the revoking of the licenses, as well as for granting an alcohol license to Himalaya Corporation, trade name Lucky 7s at 7502 Parkway Drive. During the public hearing, the owners of both businesses spoke in opposition to revocation.

WCSU Theatre Arts announces Spring Virtual Production Series
DANBURY, Connecticut The Western Connecticut State UniversityDepartment of Theatre Arts announces its Spring Virtual Production Series. The series comprises four unique productions that will be broadcast twice over two weekends spanning Thursday, April 29, through Sunday, May 9. A ticket to each performance date will allow the purchaser to access the show over the course of 24 hours that day. Tickets are available at wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com. A small team of Worcester Polytechnic Institute students, guided by their academic advisers and advice from the community, has developed the first iOS phone app for Audio Journal.
It s got people talking, and listening.
The Worcester-based nonprofit Audio Journal is a radio service for the blind, visually impaired, or individuals otherwise unable to read print or visual materials as well as people who may just like its programming. Wonderful, said Mary Frandsen, Audio Journal executive director, about the response to the app. When people who had been testing the new app for the Audio Journal were asked if they would use it again, 100 percent said yes. Access time to broadcasts using the app has been cut from five minutes to one minute. It is now available to anyone at no cost on Apple’s app store.
A free long-Covid rehabilitation programme has launched in Nuffield Health in Ilford.

A rehabilitation programme to help people suffering with long-term effects of Covid-19 has launched in Ilford.
Nuffield Health, the UK s largest healthcare charity, has launched a free 12-week specialist recovery programme at the Fitness and Wellbeing Centre in Clements Road.
Following a pilot run at four locations, the new programme will launch in Ilford.
It blends together physical therapy and mental health and aims to help the ever-growing number of people who are struggling with the lingering effects of Covid-19.
One in 10 people who are infected with Covid-19 will develop some form of long Covid, with symptoms including breathlessness, anxiety and chronic fatigue.
