Burnham seafront residents step up campaign to get proposed play area moved A group of Burnham-On-Sea seafront residents have stepped up their campaign to have a proposed new play area moved from outside their homes by handing out campaign leaflets and speaking to seafront walkers about the changes. As first reported here, residents of Quantock Court say that while they support the idea of a new seafront play area, the tarmac area on the South Esplanade earmarked for the new facilities is “unsuitable” as it is “regularly used” for various outdoor activities by families, runners, dog walkers, keep fit enthusiasts and cyclists, and is also overlooked by their flats.

Photos: Burnham-On-Sea gets an early morning covering of light snow Snow fell in Burnham-On-Sea early on Sunday morning (January 24th), creating these wintry scenes. The snow started falling in Burnham during the early hours, as pictured below on Burnham’s seafront webcam. The Met Office issued a yellow warning for snow and ice across the area from 1am until 6pm. Burnham’s beach got a wintry dusting, as pictured here by reader Laura Maynard. A Met Office spokesman said: “An area of rain will cross the west and southwest of the country on Sunday morning and turn readily to snow as it spreads eastwards, and also lead to some icy surfaces.”
