A TEENAGE trombone player who recently gained a place on a prestigious music course is celebrating again after being earning a top accolade from a local festival. Mark Gammon was commended by organisers of the Inverclyde Music Festival for his dedication to his musical studies by receiving a £500 scholarship to further his learning. Festival bosses were this year able to offer a cash boost to three local youngsters instead of one thanks to a kind £1,000 donation from competition supporter, David White. News of the scholarship came shortly after Mark s place to study for a Bachelor of music honours degree was confirmed.
A TALENTED teenager has hit the right note with judges after gaining a place at the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Mark Gammon, 17, who plays bass trombone with the the Riverside Youth Band, has been given the opportunity to study for a Bachelor of Music Honours Degree after an impressive audition. This is the next step for the Port Glasgow High pupil who started at RCS Junior Conservatoire in September, attending online on Saturdays. He will begin full-time study this September. Mark, who lives in Kilmacolm, said: I m overjoyed to have been offered a place at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
