Playhouse in the Park announces 2021-2022 season

Finally. The Playhouse in the Park’s lost season – 2020-2021 – will see the light of day. Not all of it. But the 2021-2022 season the Playhouse announced this week includes many of the shows the company had scheduled last year. This new season will see a few changes, though. Audiences will have to wait until October for the first production. Normally, the Playhouse kicks things off in late August or early September. Also, the season will be slightly shorter, with just eight productions instead of 11. Three of those eight, however, are world premieres, with two of them commissioned by the Playhouse.

Welcome back, Darling

Welcome back, Darling © Provided by ABC NEWS Floodwaters are re-energising drought-hit communities. () Australia s third-longest river, The Darling, is running a banker once more as floodwaters from March storms bring its first major flush after years of drought.  For some people the water means money in the bank; for others it represents a feed or a place to come together with family. With a red dog the shape of a wombat by her side, three-year-old Ivy Moore leads her father James to his ute outside their home at Walgett in northern New South Wales. The farm is a 400-kilometre round trip from the daycare centre Ivy attends once a week.

Laura Gordon: The inside scoop on the culture of Netflix

Laura Gordon: The inside scoop on the culture of Netflix I LOVE a book that gives me an insight into the minds and methods of business gurus. I’ve lost count of how many I’ve read – but few have captivated me quite as much as the recently published No Rules Rules. It gives the inside scoop on the culture of Netflix from co-founder Reed Hastings. When you consider the success of this multi-billion-dollar media empire grown from a small business start-up, you know you’re sure to find pearls of wisdom. Combine that with insights from his co-author Erin Meyer, who devised The Culture Map (essentially a how-to guide for transcending cultural barriers) and this book was never going to disappoint.

Buccleuch bids to make opencast mine renewable energy site

Buccleuch has announced that it is to market a consented 210 MW pumped storage hydro system (PSH) and adjacent windfarm in what it describes as “a unique opportunity in the renewable energy space”. The project, which will be built on the former opencast coalmining site at Glenmuckloch, on the Queensberry Estate in Dumfriesshire, would see the development of an energy park, which would consign to history the black scar of previous mining activities. Buccleuch is to market the scheme with the assistance of Edinburgh-based investment bank, Noble & Co. The project will be built on a former opencast coalmining site. Alan Wilson, energy director at Buccleuch said: “With much of the background work now completed for the site, and Buccleuch as sole owners of the projects, we have reached a pivotal moment and are now looking for a purchaser to take the project through to commercial operation.
