I-80 is expected to see strong winds and snow impact travel Monday and into Tuesday morning. 5-8 inches are expected along I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie until 3 am Tuesday and wind gusts could reach as high as 40 mph and create areas of drifting snow, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne. “Travel could be very difficult with snow covered roads,” the NWS in Cheyenne says. “Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday evening commute along Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie.”

A chance of dry thunderstorms could add to the risk of fire in east central, south central and southeast Wyoming on Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne. Dry thunderstorms would add to the “near-critical” fire weather conditions with Monday expected to be warm and dry in the area. “Chances for dry thunderstorms will add to the threat as a front drops into the region,” the NWS in Cheyenne said. “Increasing chances for precipitation tonight as the atmospheric layer moistens, turning to light snow for most areas west of the Laramie Range before sunrise tomorrow morning.”
