CANTON District Attorney Gary M. Pasqua will seek re-election to a second term as St. Lawrence County District Attorney.
Pasqua, a Republican and Conservative, was elected to his position in November of 2017 and took office the following January. He has spent the last 14 years fighting for justice for victims of crime in the North Country as an assistant district attorney, chief assistant district attorney and, finally, as district attorney.
During the past three years, Pasqua and his office were able to secure numerous convictions in cases including homicides, sexual assaults and drug crimes. Most notably, DA Pasqua lead the prosecution that convicted Christopher Hebert of the murder of Lacey Yekel. Hebert was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

CANTON, N.Y. (WWNY) - The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Hammond man on meth charges early Thursday morning.
Francis Baker, 46, is facing charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree. Both are felonies.
Baker was arraigned and jailed at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with no bail set. Authorities say Baker has two prior felony convictions.
Sheriff’s deputies say the investigation is ongoing and Baker will appear in court at a later date.

A Lawrence County District Attorney s narcotics officer on Wednesday filed charges against Ricardo Nicholas Pops Reeves, 42, of 131 Park Ave., who was not at home when officers served a sealed search warrant at his house around 2:20 p.m. Monday.
Dubbed as âOperation Naughty List,â the raid resulted in officers confiscating 299.4 grams of suspected cocaine, 68.2 grams of suspected heroin and 57 grams of suspected crack cocaine, $27,000 in cash and a loaded high-quality .45-caliber handgun and an AR-15 DPMS assault rifle.
