PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rising crude oil prices and tightening supply have helped drive up the average price of a gallon of gas in Rhode Island by 5 cents, AAA Northeast said Monday.
The current per-gallon average of $2.17 is a nickel lower than the national average of $2.22, and 35 cents lower than the Rhode Island price one a year ago.
The domestic price of crude has been steadily rising since November and oil prices have not been this expensive since February. Prices began to rise last month alongside the news about coronavirus vaccines, AAA said.
