Northern Virginia Del. Mark Levine has become the eighth Democrat to announce a bid for lieutenant governor in 2021. Levine, who has represented portions of Arlington County, Fairfax County and Alexandria in the House of Delegates since 2015, declared his candidacy in a news release Monday morning.Â Â âInjustice really gets under my skin,â Levine said in the release. âAll our lives weâve been told âthatâs just the way things are.â But Iâve found â if youâre persistent and creative, get the details right, and work with others of good will â even the toughest problems can be solved. The array of actual and prospective candidates suggests a Republican ticket fashioned at the convention rather than the rejected primary might have at least one feature its Democratic equivalent could lack: geographic balance. Indeed, the Democratic ticket again could tilt to Northern Virginia, which in population, wealth and its huge presence in the legislature pretty much runs the state. Armed Forces Day in Trowbridge HOPES are rising that a Wiltshire Armed Forces and Veterans Celebration event will be able to go ahead next year. The last event took place in 2019 and this year s two-day event scheduled for June 27 and 28 was cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions banning large public gatherings. However, Cllr Antonio Piazza, the Trowbridge councillor for Drynham, says he still hopes the event will be able to go ahead in 2021. He said: The town clerk (Lance Allan) has allocated a heritage fund for an event next year if it can go ahead subject to restrictions, to include veterans and the museum.
