Lancaster Bomber model discovery spurs wartime memory of toys for former Newark residents Published: 06:00, 07 February 2021
A man who found a Lancaster Bomber model in his locker on the first day of his employment at Worthington Simpson has inspired others to come forward with similar discoveries.
George Rutter, of Newark, came across the miniature aircraft in 1960 and told how workers at the Newark factory had made models from discarded materials in wartime.
Michael Key, who read Mr Rutterâs story, contacted the Advertiser after finding an aircraft made from the same gun metal.

Marston’s, the brewer of Pedigree, Hobgoblin and Lancaster Bomber beer, said this was the U.S. private equity firm’s third takeover proposal, following offers of 88 pence and 95 pence a share in December which it unanimously rejected.
