Associated Press and last updated 2021-04-21 12:59:15-04 WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah — A driver in a stolen car led police on a high-speed chase through Washington County Wednesday before being killed when he was ejected from the vehicle. The pursuit began around 3:30 a.m. when a Hurricane police officer attempted to stop the car that did not have a license plate. Instead of stopping, the driver of the vehicle accelerated on State Road 9 into LaVerkin at approximately 90 mph. After driving through side roads in Toquerville neighborhoods, the man returned to the highway before rolling over the vehicle.

HURRICANE The driver of a vehicle trying to flee from police in southern Utah was killed after crashing the car. Just before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, a Hurricane police officer attempted to stop a vehicle without a license plate, according to a prepared statement from the Hurricane Police Department. The vehicle was later determined to be stolen out of Salt Lake City. The driver refused to pull over and took off going about 90 mph on state Route 9 through LaVerkin and Toquerville, police stated. The car went through several side streets in Toquerville before returning to the main highway, according to police.

New sites are targeted each week based on high positivity rates, fewer tests conducted, untreated wastewater sampling, and other surveillance data, according to a news release. Everyone is encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing while waiting in line. Some locations may be drive-thru, while others will be conducted in buildings. Children three and older can get tested at these free testing clinics, even if they do not have symptoms of COVID-19. Anyone who has any symptoms, even mild ones, should come and get tested.

SALT LAKE CITY The state of Utah is continuing to provide free COVID-19 rapid antigen tests to residents. The move by the Utah Department of Health aims to help drive down the community spread of the virus. Anyone over the age of 5 is eligible to receive a test, even if they re not experiencing symptoms. UDOH asks residents to register for their test before arriving at the site. If you do not register online or can t register online, you will be able to register at the site but it will take longer for you to be tested, said UDOH. Once the test is completed, UDOH will email the results from CV19result@utah.gov anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. If there s trouble opening the email or it doesn t come after a few hours, call 385-273-7878 for assistance.

The St. George News reports the boy fractured a leg while falling into a valley between Hurricane and LaVerkin. According to officials, the boy was looking to explore the area. His parents became worried after he did not come home from school and told police they had a feeling they should look by the river.
