22,000 marijuana plants found in Ravendale bust

RAVENDALE, Calif. - The Lassen County Sheriff s Office found and destroyed more than 22,000 marijuana plants after searching a warrant on a parcel in Ravendale on Wednesday that was being used as an illegal marijuana cultivation operation, according to the Lassen County Sheriff s Office.
When deputies arrived at the property, two people on the far end were running away. Due to the size of the operation and the number of unsecured property between them and the suspects, deputies decided not to pursue the suspects.

SUSANVILLE â Officials at High Desert State Prison (HDSP) and the Lassen County Sheriffâs Office are investigating the June 28 death of a 29-year-old inmate as a possible homicide.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., on June 27, inmate Erik S. Montes alerted staff that his cellmate was unresponsive and an emergency announcement was made. Staff quickly arrived and began life-saving measures.
The victim was transported to HDSPâs Treatment and Triage Area. At 12:07 a.m., medical staff pronounced the victim deceased. His name is being withheld at the request of his family.
Montes, who has been identified as a suspect in the case, was rehoused in the institutionâs Administrative Segregation Unit pending the outcome of the investigation.
