Many hands make light work. Vi Brown has two very busy hands that continue to have a huge impact on how the Vail community was built.
She and her late husband, Byron, moved to Vail in 1964 from Denver and never stopped moving.
Those few dozen people who were already in Vail remember the Browns arriving with young son Mike in tow to West Vail, where only about five homes were built. Byron had gotten a job working for a Denver-based real estate company selling lots in Vail.
“They needed someone to move to Vail and finish building a house, so Byron and Vi decided to plant roots here,” Mike Brown said.

Daniel Levine has lived in the Vail area for over 11 years. And while he has been an employee at many local organizations and businesses over the years working everywhere from the Four Seasons and the town of Vail to working at golf courses and as a ski instructor at both Vail and Copper he is better known as the companion of his 10-year old, 100-pound German Shepherd, Blaze.
“He’s my whole identity,” Levine said. “He’s just a magical, mystical creature.”
Which is why, when Blaze tore his ACL quickly and unexpectedly on May 5 while playing fetch, Levine decided at the encouragement of some friends to start a GoFundMe page to raise money for the cost of his surgery.

From now until Sunday, May 9, both Winter Park and Loveland ski areas will be open.

According to the Winter Park Resort website, the Winter Park side of the resort was closed on April 25, but the Mary Jane side remains open until May 9; the Super Gauge, Galloping Goose, Sunnyside and Panoramic Express ski lifts will continue to operate until closing day.
As for the Loveland Ski Area, Loveland Valley is closed for the season but Loveland Basin will also remain open until May 9. Private lessons will also be available at Loveland Basin until the season s end.
