Veteran politician and former federal minister Faisal Saleh Hayat has been tipped as Qamar Zaman Kaira’s successor in PPP Central Punjab organizational structure, Daily Times has learnt.
The PPP Central Punjab president Qamar Zaman Kaira, general secretary Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed and information secretary Syed Hassan Murtaza had been told to step down by the party chairman on May 7, according to party insiders. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto acknowledged the performance of the leadership of central Punjab and said their loyalty was unmatchable and unforgettable as they stayed with the party through thick and thin.
This shows the change of faces in the party in Punjab is not a matter of punishment. The party wants to bring in a new setup to perform better in the 2023 elections.
Kaira condemns Israeli aggression

LALAMUSA: PPP leader Chaudhry Qamar Zaman Kaira Saturday condemned Israeli forces aggression against Palestinians. Talking to people at Dera Kaira on third day of Eidul Fitr, Kaira urged people to follow coronavirus SOPs to save themselves and others.
Coronavirus vaccination centre: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Saif Anwar Jappa visited the coronavirus vaccination centre, Lalamusa. On the occasion, the DC said the vaccination doses would be administered to people round the clock from today (May 16, 2021) at Vaccination Center Sports Gymnasium and the number of counters would be enhanced at Lalamusa vaccination centre. He talked to senior citizens and asked them about facilities at the centre. KARACHI: In order to deal with the extra rush in the days leading to Eidul Fitr, Pakistan Railways has announced 11 Eid special trains.
The first of these trains comprising 14 economy-class coaches departed from the City railway station at 8pm on Friday.
As things were sedate and unhurried at the city station, they were rushed and chaotic at the Cantonment railway station where in their hurry people forgot all about the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) despite the railways staffs’ constant reminders to them to pull up their masks. The train was to stop at the Cantt station for 10 minutes, hence the dash.

LALAMUSA: Deputy Commissioner Saif Anwar Jappa has said that indoor and outdoor services have been banned in hotels as per decision of the NCOC.He said this while taking briefing about steps taken to control the spread of COVID-19. The DC said that teams had been made to take action against violators of corona SOPs. He told that 110,000 people had been tested for COVID-19 in Gujrat district while 5,666 patients had been recovered out of 6,156 corona positive patients. He said that 79 patients, including 38 confirmed and 51 suspected, were under treatment in Corona Ward while 107 patients had lost their lives.Later, the DC visited Ramazan Bazaars of Kunjah and Zahoor Elahi Stadium. He checked the stalls of flour, sugar, fruits and other eatable things.
Task force set up on adulteration

LALAMUSA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Saif Anwar Jappa Wednesday said a special task force had been formed in the district to launch a crackdown on adulteration mafia as per the instructions of the Punjab government.
Addressing a meeting of the task force, the DC said intelligence agencies would also assist the district administration in launching crackdown on sellers of adulterated items.
He said the task force would include Police, Punjab Food Authority, Food Department, Local Government, Agriculture Department, District Prosecutor, and Special Branch. He said DO Industries would be the Secretary of the task force. The DC said some selfish people were harming the health of the people for their own benefits and were selling substandard and adulterated food.
