On March 10, the mask mandate in Texas ended and businesses along with citizens were allowed to ditch the mask if they wanted. Still, some businesses and cities have required people to wear masks if visiting their business or property.
In Lubbock, masks have been required at all city-run facilities. This included Lubbock City Council meetings and other events at places like the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.
According to a press release, beginning Saturday May 1, the City of Lubbock will remove mask requirements for staff and visitors.
Effective May 1, 2021, the City of Lubbock will remove mask requirements for staff and visitors at City facilities. Lessees of City facilities, such as the Civic Center and others, may establish their own requirements for attendees, and events that include at-risk populations will be evaluated on an individual basis. City vaccination clinics will still require masks.
