Jury selection underway for Lubbock s first criminal trial in a year

Attorneys for the state and defense worked into the night at a makeshift courtroom at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center as they narrowed down a pool of 79 potential jurors into a panel of 12 with at least two alternates. By late Monday, attorneys were in the process of individually interviewing 55 people who said they couldn t be an impartial juror because of the nature of the case.  Joe Salinas, 42, is charged with a first-degree felony count of aggravated sexual assault of a child, which carries a punishment of five years to life in prison.  Details of the case against Salinas were not provided to the potential jurors during jury selection process.

International Bank of Commerce is asking a Lubbock County Court to collect more than $23 million from four banks. It’s filed against Bart Reagor’s accounts at Lubbock National Bank, AIM Bank, Wells Fargo and Prosperity bank. In the request, IBC cited an April 2020 judgment against financial portions of the Reagor-Dykes Auto Group and Bart Reagor.

Webb is also a former board member of the Lubbock ISD Foundation for Excellence.

Governor Greg Abbott made the appointment on Monday. Carruth’s term will expire on Dec. 31, 2022 or until her successor has been elected and qualified for the position. Carruth currently serves as the Judge of the Lubbock County Court at Law #3. She previously served as Lubbock County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4. She’s a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Lubbock Area Bar Association and is an honorary lifetime member of the West Texas Justices of the Peace & Constables Association.
