Las Cruces, NM – On this edition of PUENTES a la comunidad, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra spoke with “Food Justice Storyteller” for La Semilla Food Center, Michelle Carreon, about her new role and about their project
“Soil beneath the Border: Frontera Voices and Networks of Support.”
The Ford Foundation and (NALAC) National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures recently awarded La Semilla Food Center with a two-year $75,000 grant. Carreon says “the project will pilot an innovative, place-based fellowship and develop creative story-gathering and storytelling campaigns. It will include expanding their digital communications and online presence during this time when remote community connection continues to be crucial. Building on a foundation grounded in crafting community-based narratives, these initiatives will strengthen La Semilla’s commitment to creating spaces for community lived experiences and histories in the Paso del Norte region.
