Laurel County Sheriff John Root says an investigation into a fatal crash Wednesday by Lieut./Accident Reconstructionist Chris Edwards has led to manslaughter charges. Crews with the London-Laurel Rescue Squad responded to the crash on Pine Grove School Road Pine Grove Rd. around 8:55 a.m. Investigators accuse 37-year-old William Petrey of driving his pickup truck with 37-year-old Rebecca Warren in the back screaming for him to stop the truck. Deputies say Petrey ended up hitting two fence posts and a tree. Warren was thrown out of the truck and hit a barn, causing fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office. Petrey was charged with second-degree manslaughter and was taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center.

LAUREL COUNTY â A 37-year-old London woman died Wednesday after she reportedly was thrown from the back of a pickup truck and hit a barn when the driver ran off the roadway and struck two fence posts and a tree. The driver was arrested for manslaughter following the crash.
Rebecca Warren was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner s Office.
William Petrey, age 37, of Woodbine was arrested for second-degree manslaughter and is being held in Laurel County Correctional Center.
Laurel Sheriff s Lieut./Accident Reconstructionist Chris Edwards along with Laurel Sheriff s detectives and deputies investigated the crash which occurred on Pine Grove School Road, approximately 4 miles south of London at 8:55 a.m.

At 81-years-old, Wilson Rawlings was honored for his 66 years of serving London as a firefighter, as a founder of the London-Laurel Rescue Squad, and one of the oldest active/longest serving firefighters in the state of Kentucky. The London Fire Department, London-Laurel Rescue Squad, and community members gathered for a private surprise party on his 81st birthday, Tuesday, April 6th. Rawlings followed in his father’s footsteps, A.W. “Gus” Rawlings, who served as Chief from 1945 to August 1st, 1950. Wilson began volunteering for the London Fire Department in 1955 at 15-years-old. Wilson served as Chief from June 12th, 1989 to January 10th, 1994. He was designated as London’s Deputy Fire Chief 2004. London Mayor Troy Rudder said Wilson’s leadership in the London Fire Department has taken it to a higher standard of professionalism. The City of London thanks him for his many years of service.
