Photo: Google Street View Traffic using a number of roads in the Barnet area is set to be disrupted by temporary closures due to roadworks next month. Notices from the London Borough of Barnet in this week’s edition of the Barnet Borough Times detail several different roads that are due to be affected by the works in March. Vehicles will be unable to enter, exit or proceed on Hendon Way at its junction with the Vale from 9pm on Monday, with the order effective until 5am on March 31, to allow for speed camera installation and resurfacing works.

Barnet Borough Times from the London Borough of Barnet detail four sets of works that are set to begin on February 22. Colindale Avenue, between its junction with the A5 Edgware Road and Stonecrop Close, is set to close for up to 19 days due to gas main replacement works. Water main replacement works mean Park Road, at its junction with Victors Way, could be shut for 38 days from February 22. Water main repair works mean Princes Avenue N3 will be closed to traffic, except for access to residents, for an expected period of three days. Another three-day closure set to come into effect on February 22 is at Moxon Street, between its junction with High Street and Tapster Street, while new water mains are installed.

London-based practice Rayner Davies has completed a fourth education scheme for London Preschool Company, the 600m² West Finchley Nursery and Preschool
On a complex site in the London Borough of Barnet, the part new-build and part-conversion of a formally derelict Victorian structure will accommodate over 100 children.

It features a library, sensory room and visual arts and music studios.
The site is surrounded by protected trees requiring the building to be designed around root protection areas.

Outdoor space is provided at tree canopy level with a series of roof terrace areas, making use of its leafy surroundings, while the mass of the building steps back from this to minimise its impact on the site.
