The college will start offering what it calls “microcredentials,” which are “a whole new approach to doing continuing education,” according to Mary Pierce, the school’s dean of business information technology and part-time studies.

The credits aren’t physical badges, but online emblems that signify a learner has earned a super-focused credential at the college, similar to ones offered by the job-networking site LinkedIn. They can be attached to the student’s social-media profile.
