SWPH region sets another single-day COVID-19 record today

St. Thomas, ON, Canada / 94.1 St.ThomasToday.ca Jan 2, 2021 12:41 PM Ontario reported 3,363 new COVID-19 cases this morning along with 2,476 on Friday. Southwestern Public Health, meantime, is reporting 18 new cases yesterday and 75 this morning – another single-day record – with 40 cases resolved over the two days. Since Thursday, there have been 14 new cases in St. Thomas, 8 in Aylmer, four in Bayham, three in Malahide and one in Central Elgin. One death was reported and there now have been 14 COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began. There are 345 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 89 in Tillsonburg, 66 in St. Thomas, 49 in Aylmer, 40 in Woodstock, 34 in East Zorra-Tavistock, 16 in Norwich, 12 in Bayham, eight in Zorra, six in Ingersoll, five in Central Elgin, Southwold and Blandford-Blenheim, four in SW Oxford and three each in Malahide and West Elgin.

There have been 12 COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began. There are 263 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 61 in Tillsonburg, 50 in Aylmer, 49 in St. Thomas, 27 in Woodstock, 24 in East Zorra-Tavistock, 10 in Norwich, 9 in Bayham, six in Central Elgin and Ingersoll, five in Southwold, Blandford-Blenheim and Zorra, four in SW Oxford and two in West Elgin.
