MACAU, 25 January 2021: Londoner Macao will
be the latest addition to Macau Casinos, referred to as integrated resorts,
when its first phase opens 8 February 2021.
Owner Sands China Ltd called it a bold
British-themed reimagining of the Sands® Cotai Central integrated resort at a
pre-opening gig last week held for more than 2,000 team members. When it is
fully open the resort will muster 5,700 staff. Among them, 25 per cent have
served the company for at least 10 years, and have extensive experience opening
two or three properties; nearly 10 per cent have already reached their 15-year
milestones.
More than 2,000 Sands China team members joined rallies at the Londoner Theatre Tuesday, ahead of the 8 February first-phase unveiling.

A favourite saying of casino entrepreneur Sheldon Adelson, whose death was announced on Tuesday, was: “You have to challenge the status quo, you have to change the status quo, and if you change it in any business, success will follow you like a shadow.”
Arguably in this regard, Mr Adelson, founding chairman of Las Vegas Sands Corp and its Macau business unit, Sands China Ltd, lived up to his words.
His death was caused by complications related to his treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Las Vegas Sands said in a statement.
Mr Adelson entered casino-building relatively late in his business career, after selling his Comdex events business in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States, at the top of the market.

Sheldon Adelson, the chairman and CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corp., died on Monday night at his home in Malibu, California, following complications related to his treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The 87-year-old went on medical leave from the company on January 7 to resume treatment for the disease originally diagnosed in 2019.
“It is with unbearable pain that I announce the death of my husband, Sheldon G. Adelson, of complications from a long illness,” his wife, Dr. Miriam Adelson, says in a statement from Las Vegas Sands. Adelson’s funeral will be held in Israel, the birthplace of his wife, and a memorial in Las Vegas, where he ran the Venetian and Palazzo casinos, will be held at a later date.

The famed Asian gambling hotspot is upping the ante in the giant replicas game with soon-to-open The Londoner, a mega integrated-resort project developed by Sands China at an approximate cost of $2 billion.
Recreations of famous global icons have long been a common sight in Macao and Las Vegas, from the bright lights of the Eiffel Tower at The Parisian Macao and Paris Las Vegas, to versions of Venice s Grand Canal at The Venetian resorts in both cities.
In the case of The Londoner, its exterior will feature a massive replica of the UK Houses of Parliament and a life-size 96-metre Elizabeth Tower (which most of us know as Big Ben ).
