In a news release early Wednesday morning, the sheriff says that no shots have been fired and a number of residents are still evacuated from the neighborhood for their safety and to allow movement of resources. Sheriff Holton said that additional resources are being assessed for Wednesday to peacefully end the stand-off, although he didn t give specific details.

UPDATE: Pet mule killed near Stevensville hit by vehicle, not shot MTN News The fatal shooting occurred in the area of in the area of the Eastside Highway near Groff Lane, south of Stevensville. By: MTN News and last updated 2021-03-09 13:34:03-05 The Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office reports that after receiving information that the animal that was killed on Eastside Highway could have been struck by a vehicle, the owner had the animal exhumed, and a post-mortem examination performed by a veterinarian. The results of the exam determined that the puncture wound initially thought to be a bullet wound was not a gunshot injury. A bullet was not recovered and there was no further evidence that the mule was shot, according to a news release. The mule did have injuries consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle.
