ISLAMABAD: As ‘water politics’ has brought Sindh and Punjab face to face, a Senate committee has unanimously decided to take up in its next meeting the row between the two provinces.
The decision was made at a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination held here on Wednesday and presided over by Senator Mian Raza Rabbani. It decided to invite representatives of Punjab and Sindh, the chairman of the Indus River System Authority (Irsa) and other stakeholders, including the secretaries of Ministry of Water Resources and Ministry of Energy (Power Division), for a discussion on the issues.

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Committee on Defence and National Security on Tuesday asked the government to adhere to the recommendations given in the 2012 report of Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) while setting the future course of ties with the United States.
The directive was given during a meeting of the defence committee that was chaired by Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed.
A copy of the recommendations on US ties, which were unanimously approved by the parliament on April 12, 2012, was sent by the committee to the defence ministry with a note that these should be considered as “Pakistan’s state policy guidelines”.

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Committee on Defence and National Security met on Tuesday at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed and received a comprehensive briefing from the Ministry of Defence, which lasted for almost three hours.
At the outset of the meeting, in his opening remarks, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed and other members of the committee offered Fateha for the soldiers, civilians and officers, who have laid down their lives in defence of the motherland. He also paid tributes to his predecessor Senator Walid Iqbal for his positive role, says a press release.
