One day before its first season finale, Amazon has renewed Robert Kirkman’s animated series “Invincible” for two more seasons.
The series, which stars Steven Yeon and J.K. Simmons, will end its first season on April 30.
Yeun stars in the series, based on Kirkman’s long-running comic, as 17-year-old Mark Grayson, who’s just like every other guy his age except that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (Simmons). But as Mark develops powers of his own, he discovers that his father’s legacy may not be as heroic as it seems.
Invincible Creator Hopes to Bring More The Walking Dead Veterans Into the Cast
Since launching at Amazon, Robert Kirkman s new animated series
Invincible has utilized voice talent from the deep bench of talented actors AMC used on the writer s hit zombie show,
The Walking Dead. Invincible himself is played by fan-favorite The Walking Dead actor (and Academy Award nominee) Steven Yeun, while other roles on the series have been filled by Lauren Cohan, Ross Marquand, Sonequa Martin-Green, Khary Payton, Michael Cudlitz, Lennnie James, and Chad Coleman. And while many of these are brief appearances, given the epic scale of
Invincible and its often brutal storytelling style that leaves characters dead on the regular, it s hard not to notice the pattern.

Invincible has made for a blast of an animated series so far. The show brings some great action, a storyline that comes with twists and turns, and serves not necessarily as a spoof of superhero films, but as a definite and clear subversion of a genre that has become quite populated in the last decade and change.
With its roots in animation,
Invincible also has.quite possibly the best voice cast we’ve ever seen. We’re talking 2021 Academy Award nominees, multiple Academy Award winners, and more superstars up and down the cast. Hell, we’re not even including him in the list below, but freaking Jon Hamm voices a random guy who shows up for a few lines here and there in a couple early episodes. It is stacked.
