Philadelphia Eagles begin practice window for WR DeSean Jackson to return from IR; OL joins practice squad

PHILADELPHIA The Eagles could get a veteran offensive player back at some point in the next two weeks or beyond.
The team announced Monday it was beginning the 21-day practice window for wide receiver DeSean Jackson to return from injured reserve. The team also announced it signed offensive lineman Casey Tucker to the practice squad.

The Philadelphia Eagles faltered in all three phases during Sunday’s 33-26 loss at the Arizona Cardinals, but the team’s struggles on special teams through injury and ineffectiveness stood out in stark relief in the desert.
The Eagles special teams unit helped put points on the board for the Cardinals and then potentially took a point off of the scoreboard that could have given the Eagles their first lead of the game in the third quarter.

The team announced Slay did not travel with the team to Arizona on Saturday.

With Slay out of the lineup, the Eagles are likely to start safety Jalen Mills at cornerback. The Eagles also have Elijah Riley, Michael Jacquet, Nickell Robey-Coleman and Kevon Seymour at the position. If Mills were to make the move to corner, the Eagles would need to make up for his absence with safeties K’Von Wallace, Marcus Epps and Rudy Ford.

The Eagles decided to improve their depth while draining the reserve of a division rival at the same time on Monday when they agreed to sign offensive lineman Ross Pierschbacher from Washington s practice squad.
The 6-4, 315-pound lineman was a fifth-round pick of the Football Team in 2019 out of Alabama. He played in five games as a reserve in his rookie season. This year, Pierschbacher signed with the Football Team s practice squad after being waived at the end of Training Camp. Pierschbacher was elevated to the active roster for the November 7 loss to the Giants, but he did not play.

The Eagles plan to sign one of Jalen Hurts’ former college teammates to their 53-man roster.
Monday, the Eagles agreed to sign guard/center Ross Pierschbacher off Washington’s practice squad. Pierschbacher was a fifth-round pick of Washington’s last year.

Prior to being selected by Washington, Pierschbacher blocked for Hurts at Alabama. In 2019, Pierschbacher headed to the NFL and Hurts transferred to Oklahoma.
Pierschbacher spent most of his college career at guard but played center as a senior in 2018. The 6-foot-4, 315-pound lineman played five games on special teams as a rookie but was on the Washington practice squad throughout this season.
