PORTSMOUTH City Manager Sam Sutherland and Chief of Police Debby Brewer announced the appointment of two new police officers.
On Monday, Sutherland swore in Jesse Kontras and Tyler Spriggs as police officers with the Portsmouth Police Department.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting from earlier this month in Ross County.
According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, Ryan T. Littler, 22, was taken into custody at the Port Columbus Airport around 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
Mr. Littler was apprehended by the U.S. Marshal’s Office on a murder warrant from the Chillicothe Municipal Court. The warrant was issued in regard to the fatal shooting of 40-year-old Joseph Sprouse, which took place on January 6th at a residence along Rozelle Creek Road.
The investigation remains ongoing and Ross Sheriff George Lavender says more details will be released as they’re made available.
