Ross County Sheriff s Deputies Thursday were called to an apartment complex on Anderson Station Road on the report of an unconscious woman found in one of the apartments. Upon arrival, the apartment complex maintenance technician told Deputies he routinely checks up on the woman, and said he knew she had taken a serious fall earlier in the week. Dale Redman said the nurses aid who had come to check on the woman had left Thursday without making any contact with him. The body of Vicky L. Davis was found in the apartment. There s no word as to the cause of Davis death.

Clarksburg man found guilty of rape in one-day trial

CHILLICOTHE- A Clarksburg man was found guilty of rape Tuesday following a one-day jury trial that featured text messages including one that said I basically raped you.
Jacob Bennett, 26, was charged with the first-degree felony count after an incident that occurred the night of July 21, according to testimony from the victim, who was 17 at the time of the incident.
The victim was at a house that night, along with her sister, the defendant s younger siblings and the defendant s parents.
The victim testified that they were all playing hide and seek tag late that evening, sometime after 10 p.m.

Ross County Sheriff s Deputies Tuesday were dispatched to a William Drive residence on the report of the discovery of military grade ammunition and what was thought to be some type of explosive device. David Horn told deputies he was at the home cleaning it out following the death of his grandfather and discovered the ordinance. Three automatic weapon rounds for a .50-caliber machine gun were found still in tact and what appeared to be some type of detonator for larger rounds was discovered as well by Horn. Deputies contacted the Franklin County Bomb Squad and they arrived and took possession of the detonator. The rounds of ammunition were deemed to be no concern, but the detonator was eventually disposed of by the bomb squad.
