The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (
ESCWA) and the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) held a meeting with the government of Yemen and regional and international partners to back development in Yemen.
The participants included
the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND), the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and the World Bank, and they discussed development challenges faced by Yemen and requirements for the post-conflict phase.

BEIRUT: Bread prices in Lebanon rose by LBP250 ($0.17) on Tuesday, the second increase in less than a month, with 930 grams of the basic foodstuff now costing LBP2,500.
A family would need around LBP75,000 a month in order to have a pack of bread a day, with the latest price representing 11 percent of the LBP650,000 monthly minimum wage.
The Ministry of Economy blamed the first increase on the global rise in wheat prices and promised to reduce the price “when global wheat prices or the local dollar exchange rate declines because these two factors control the price of bread in Lebanon.”

NNA - Caretaker Minister of the Displaced, Ghada Shreim, received this Friday the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Rola Dashti, and her work team, as part of an acquaintance visit during which coordination between the ministry and the ESCWA were reviewed, with emphasis on the importance of what the Ministerial Technical Committee for Rural Development, headed by Minister Shreim, is doing.
It was agreed to communicate and cooperate in this regard, especially since the ESCWA goals mainly focus on achieving sustainable development in Lebanon and the Arab countries.
