Local News: Congressman Smith announces Skyler Todd as the 2021 Congressional Art Competition winner (6/15/21)

Tuesday, June 15, 2021 Pictured are pieces of art that received recognition at the 2021 Congressional Art Competition. Congressman Jason Smith is pleased to announce Skyler Todd from Thayer High School as the winner of the 2021 Congressional Art Competition. Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide art competition to recognize artistic talent in each Congressional district. Since the competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 students have participated nationwide.Todd will get a chance to travel to Washington, DC to be celebrated at an awards ceremony and view his artwork hanging in the US Capitol, where it will be displayed and viewed by thousands over the next year.

Five students win SRT scholarships | News, Sports, Jobs

Area students are recipients of $1,500 scholarships awarded by SRT. They include Lucas Webb, Minot High School, Emma Dragseth, TGU-Towner High School, Joslyn Nordmark, Rolla High School, and Kamryn Morrison, South Prairie High School. Wyatt Hanson, Velva, was the winner of the 2021 SRT $2,500 Technical Scholarship. There were nearly 70 applications for the scholarships. Students were judged on academic performance and achievements and also on their volunteerism and community involvement. They were required to write an essay discussing how smart devices and tech gadgets have improved their high school learning experience in a positive way. FutureBuilders awards Rolla High School Senior $1K scholarship

RDN REPORTS rdnnews@gmail.com Rolla High School senior Camryn Falkenhain is the regional winner of a $1,000 scholarship awarded by FutureBuilders, the education foundation of the Missouri School Boards’ Association.  The association and FutureBuilders established the scholarship program in memory of John T. Belcher, who was instrumental in developing innovative financing programs for Missouri school districts.  The learning environment for thousands of Missouri s public school students was improved as a result of his work.  A $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a student in each of the association s 17 regions. From that group, a statewide winner will be selected.  Applicants were judged based on academic performance, extracurricular activities and the quality of an essay. More than 210 applications were submitted this year. The Missouri School Boards’ Association is a not-for-profit organization to held school boards to ensure all students succeed.
