A professor at the University of Newcastle, Ryan brings a wealth of experience to the role and will be tasked with addressing the concerns of landowners in the Aerotropolis area.
The Commissioner’s role will involve providing access to independent expert advice, such as planning, valuation and development processes, advising on actions to assist people on environmentally constrained land and those who need support on compassionate grounds, making recommendations regarding strategic land acquisitions that may also address community concerns, and connecting landholders with other agencies and relevant government stakeholders to provide clarity and support where necessary.
Ryan says she is looking forward to consulting with residents and communicating with the Berejiklian Government.

A landmark study into Australia’s proposed first large national park dedicated to protecting koalas has projected additional regional economic output of $1.2 billion over the next 15 years and $1.7 billion in biodiversity value.
The proposed Great Koala National Park will add 175,000 hectares of native state forests to existing protected areas to establish a 315,000-hectare reserve on the NSW Mid North Coast. The site, which includes two koala metapopulations, would protect an area that is home to around 20 per cent of the NSW koala population habitat.

Premier approved $20m grant
A NSW parliamentary inquiry into government grants has heard the Premier announced $20 million for Wagga Wagga s Riverina Conservatorium of Music without a business case.
During a hearing yesterday deputy secretary of the Public Works Advisory, Chris Hanger, revealed Gladys Berejiklian made the announcement during the 2018 Wagga by-election, sparked by the resignation of former local MP, Daryl Maguire.
