The former five-star recruit signed with the Wolverines in December 2018 after a long, arduous process that saw Hill decommit from Michigan and commit to Alabama, only to flip his decision on signing day. He did it, at least in part, because of the bond he built with Chris Partridge and Sherrone Moore, his two primary recruiters at Michigan. Partridge would be his position coach and the one, he figured, to help him develop into a star.

Matt Weiss, hired in February from the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens to coach the quarterbacks, signed a two-year employment agreement worth $1.2 million in base salary. Under the deal, obtained by MLive Wednesday from the University of Michigan via a public records request, the 38-year-old Weiss will collect an annual salary of $600,000. That makes him fourth on the staff in annual base pay, behind only defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald ($1 million), offensive coordinator Josh Gattis ($900,000) and co-defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist ($680,000).
