EACS set for masks optional next year
But school district will follow public health rules

The East Allen County Schools board formalized Tuesday its desire for a mask-optional policy next academic year, should conditions be right.
The resolution, which passed 6-1, also recognizes the possibility of a mask mandate ordered by the governor or health officials. In that instance, EACS will require universal and correct wearing of masks in accordance with the most current Centers of Disease Control and Prevention guidelines as well as guidance from the Allen County and Indiana departments of health, said Superintendent Marilyn Hissong, who read the resolution in its entirety.
Court Grants Temporary Restraining Order Against State’s Plan To Track Medical Marijuana
The state’s new tracking system for medical marijuana is being put on hold for 60 days after a marijuana business sued the state.
The business claims the tracking system would allow a single, private business to have a monopoly.
That new tracking system was supposed to start Friday, but that plan was delayed after a judge issued a temporary restraining order. The business is hoping the state will drop the company hired to operate the tracking system.
A couple hundred people from across the state gathered in front of the Okmulgee Country Courthouse for one goal.
