Make no mistake, I am still sickened by the events inspired by a delusional mad man at the US Capitol on January 6th. The actions of many that can only be described as a coup resulted in multiple injuries and deaths, but most importantly, the perception of allowed insurrection. This was the realistic definition of a domestic terrorism event, sadly incited by our highest ranking government official.
Several arrests have been made and the FBI is actively working on gathering those who broke federal law to participate in the invasion and overtaking of the capitol building. Sadly, many who are being prosecuted for the offenses are not pleading innocence, at least based on what our countries governing laws are. Many are pleading innocence based upon their paranoia driven mentality that they do not answer to our land’s governing lands. In fact, they are demonstrating extreme proudness of their actions.

Today is a dark day in American history. One I am not proud of, more so ashamed and embarrassed. One of the glorifications of our reputation as a country is the civilized freedoms portrayed by our citizens free of chaos and anarchy. We have recently taken a dive to the depths of hell to our reputation around the world. The last 4 years have had it’s embarrassments of a no good con man who really should not have been in politics. A failure in the business world, a true house of cards. Then as the pressure started piling on, including an impeachment, his ability to lead a nation brought out his true ineptness to handle his role as our nation’s highest ranking government official.

The places our minds run to is often more disturbing than the reality of many situations. When one must split hairs to what that reality is, it becomes more and more paralyzing mentally.
I have now lived in Columbus, OH for almost 2 years. I spent the previous 4 living in the Nashville, TN area, and working specifically out of an office in Nashville.
I have friends that were impacted by the tornado that touched down over East Nashville earlier this year. I have friends affected by some of the racial instability on both sides of the Blue Line down in Nashville. The city has been on growing tensions for some time, though the main cause of tension has come from it’s explosive growth. The city infrastructure struggles to handle the flood of new transplants to the area.

As I sit down to write this, it is Tuesday December 22nd. Three days before Christmas. A time that once used to bring an anticipation of immense excitement. Growing up as a kid, it would be wondering what Santa brought me. Then as I became a brother, it would become what did Santa bring me, but more importantly, did I get ripped off in lieu of what my brother got? I mean, it would get petty as a brother during my childhood to the point of counting gifts for each and even sometimes potential value- which ended up being pointed out by my parents as they tried to maintain equality in the love shown by “Santa.”
