Whistleblowers claim children at risk due to lack of gas safety checks in East Dunbartonshire schools

Exclusive They claim that there could be around 30 to 40 buildings in the area that have had “no trace” of an inspection CHILDREN and teachers in East Dunbartonshire are being put at “grave risk” due to annual gas safety inspections not being conducted in school buildings, a group of whistleblowers has claimed.  The employees – who work in the local authority’s education department – are calling on three council chiefs to step down from their roles. They claim that there could be around 30 to 40 buildings in the area that have had “no trace” of an inspection in the last three-and-a-half years.  But council bosses have rejected their allegations, describing them as “unfounded” - insisting that all gas safety certificates are in place and updated every year.

Majority of UK Labour Party members support indyref2, poll finds

MORE than half of UK Labour Party members back a referendum on Scottish independence being held in the next few years, according to a new poll. The survey by YouGov, found nearly six out of 10 – 59% – think there should be another indyref vote soon “in principle”. Just over half – 55% – said the Labour Party should support a referendum being held in the next few years. The poll, carried out at the end of June, also found just over a quarter of members think Scotland should separate from the UK. It comes as the SNP published a new leaflet outlining the arguments for independence in the context of Brexit and the pandemic.
