Lambert: First Challenge Set Tone of the Game

Manager Paul Lambert felt one goal was always going to be decisive in the Blues’ 1-0 defeat at Portsmouth and felt former Town striker Ellis Harrison’s yellow card within 15 seconds of the start set the tone for the match.
Ronan Curtis hit the game’s only goal for Pompey in the 50th minute with the Blues, who were later reduced to 10 men after skipper Luke Chambers saw a second yellow card, unable to find an equaliser.
The Blues also face an FA fine after having six players - including Chambers - booked plus assistant manager Stuart Taylor in a game in which referee Brett Huxtable showed 12 yellow cards overall.

Town’s game at Portsmouth remains 0-0 at half-time after a feisty first period.
Skipper Luke Chambers and Toto Nsiala returned to a three-man backline as manager Paul Lambert made four changes from last week’s 2-1 home defeat by Bristol Rovers.
Chambers, who missed the last two with a neck injury, was on the right of the trio with Nsiala in the middle and Luke Woolfenden on the left.
Gwion Edwards, suspended last week, was at right wing-back and Luke Garbutt on the left. Will Norris came in for Tomas Holy in goal.

Ronan Curtis’s second-half goal was enough to see Portsmouth to a 1-0 victory over 10-man Town at Fratton Park. The Irish international found the net from 20 yards five minutes after the break and Town were unable to find an equaliser before skipper Luke Chambers was red-carded for a second bookable offence with two minutes remaining.

RONAN CURTIS HAS reaffirmed his commitment to Portsmouth, insisting that he doesn’t want to move away in order to test himself at a higher level.
After impressing since joining the League One club from Derry City in the summer of 2018, Curtis has attracted considerable attention from Championship clubs.

Town fans had a disappointing return to Portman Road as two first-half Ryan Williams goals saw Portsmouth to a comfortable 2-0 victory over the Blues, who are still to beat anyone in League One’s top nine this season. Williams, who hadn’t scored previously this season, gave his side the lead on 29 and added the second a minute before the break and Pompey could well have extended their lead in a second half in which they struck the woodwork twice.
Town boss Paul Lambert made one change with Andre Dozzell returning in the three-man central midfield, alongside Jon Nolan with Alan Judge ahead of them, having missed last week’s 2-1 win at Plymouth as he was suspended having reached five bookings.
