Henderson OKs first reading of $78M budget, lowers lifeguard age, ups pay

HENDERSON, Ky. The Henderson City Commission approved the first reading of a $78 million budget for fiscal year 2021-2022 at Tuesday s regular meeting. Included in the budget is approximately $30 million for the General Fund, nearly $16 million for the Natural Gas Fund and almost $9 million for the Health Insurance Fund. The total budget is $3.35 million more than the current fiscal year with 1.6% more allotted in the General Fund, 1.7% less in the Gas Fund and 4% more in the Health Insurance Fund. Commissioners also approved the first reading of the ordinance setting the Henderson Water Utility’s budget. The budget was approved by the Henderson Water & Sewer Commission on May 17. The HWU budget projects revenue of $24 million with operating expenses estimated at $21.2 million.
