RIAC not implementing proposed airport parking fee this summer THE RHODE ISLAND AIRPORT CORPORATION has decided to forego implementation of a proposed fee-based parking program at the Block Island (pictured) and Westerly state airports until the fall. / PHOTO COURTESY OF HENRY DUPONT PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Airport Corp. on Thursday said it will delay implementing a fee-based parking program it is developing for the Block Island and Westerly state airports until at least September. “There will not be a launch of this program over the summer,” Brian Schattle, RIAC chief financial officer, told Providence Business News. “The specifics are still being developed” by FlightLevel Aviation, the fixed-base operator at the Block Island State Airport, for planned implementation in September.

Green Airport has been selected for the debut network for the newly launched Breeze Airways, the “Seriously Nice” air carrier created by JetBlue founder David Neeleman. Starting in July, Breeze Airways will offer service four times per week between T. F. Green Airport and Charleston, Norfolk and Pittsburgh. Flights are now on sale at www.flybreeze.com . T. F. Green Airport is one of just 16 airports in the nation selected by Breeze Airways to be part of the airline debut service. With the addition of these three new routes, T. F. Green Airport now offers 25 non-stop routes provided by 11 different airlines, a non-stop route increase of 47 percent and airline increase of 57 percent compared to 2016 when the airport had 17 non-stop routes and seven airlines.

April 4, 2021 4:13 pm WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE)- Lawmakers are set to discuss the potential renaming of T.F. Green Airport to Rhode Island International Airport. The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) said they believe the name change will “support better passenger awareness of the airport’s location and destinations along with increased passenger travel.” A hearing on the renaming is scheduled for Monday afternoon. “Our airline partners have been telling us they believe the name change will increase travel at the airport. This critical feedback is coming from tourism officials overseas as well as our airline partners servicing routes domestically,” said Iftikhar Ahmad, president and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation.
