SRIIOTA s logo On April 1, the Wall Street Journal featured Southern Rhode Island Institute of the Arts a fake university.  Southern Rhode Island Institute of the Arts was created about a month ago and promoted on Reddit. It is a faux institute of higher education. Now, Reddit can claim to be the bastion of fake universities too. The Wall Street Journal writes, “Southern Rhode Island Institute of the Arts is the most exclusive college you’ve never heard of. Why? It’s not real. It is, however, perfectly suited to this high-anxiety moment for high-school students around the country waiting to find out if they have been accepted to college. The fake school’s founders channeled their college admissions stress into inventing a university of their own.“

According to a plea agreement filed in U.S. District Court, Nicholas L. Scaglione, 31, will admit to igniting a Providence Police Department cruiser that was parked in downtown Providence as officers responded to a riot on June 2, 2020, announced Acting United States Attorney Richard B. Myrus, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Boston Division Joseph R. Bonavolonta, and Providence Police Chief Colonel Hugh T. Clements, Jr.
