RI coalition wants changes to make voting easier in RI

PROVIDENCE  Even when the pandemic is over, should Rhode Island continue to allow early, in-person voting weeks ahead of an election? How about signature matching, in lieu of witness requirements, for mail ballot voting; and election day registration of new voters?   Republicans in Rhode Island and beyond,  including at least one failed Rhode Island congressional candidate, alleged massive opportunities for fraud by absentee voters in the last statewide and presidential election, but were unable to make their allegations stick. But advocates on the other side of the debate point to Rhode Island s experience in the 2020 election as evidence that the removal of potential barriers during the pandemic contributed to record-high voter participation.

McKee compared by RI Republicans to Hillary Clinton

What a spokesman for Democrat McKee actually said this past weekend was this:  I do not want to be associated with Donald Trump in any way, shape, or form. In a statement, McKee said he became aware of the details of the event on Friday afternoon and requested it be canceled. I do not want to be associated with Donald Trump in any way, shape, or form, McKee said. I do not like Trump…he is dishonest, divisive, and his Big Lie is a threat to our democracy. McKee signs Act on Climate

RHODE ISLAND — Over the weekend, Gov. Dan McKee signed legislation that will drastically cut the Ocean State’s climate emissions over the next two decades.  Under the 2021 Act on Climate, the state will develop a plan to incrementally reduce climate emissions to net-zero by 2050. The plan will be updated every five years and will also address areas such as environmental injustices, public health inequities and a fair employment transition as fossil-fuel jobs are replaced by green energy jobs.  “With four hundred miles of coastline, urban and rural coastal communities, fishing and agricultural industries, the Ocean State is on the frontlines of the climate crisis,” McKee said. “The Act on Climate represents a commitment that not only addresses a moral imperative, but also presents a platform to enhance our economy, public health, environmental equity and natural environment. I look forward to working with the General Assembly, the congressional delegat
